Buggy safari health restrictions: who should check with us first

The main buggy safari health restrictions are simple. The safari is not suitable during pregnancy, and nobody under the influence of alcohol or drugs takes part. Trouble with your back or neck, an operation not long ago or a heart condition? Then ask us before booking, because the buggy shakes on rough ground and the passenger seat may suit some guests better. This is guidance, not medical advice.

Buggy safari health restrictions at a glance

These are the points recorded for the Side buggy safari. They apply to drivers and passengers alike unless stated otherwise.

  • Pregnancy: not suitable.
  • Back or neck problems: ask us first; the vehicle shakes, and the passenger seat may suit you better.
  • Recent surgery: ask us first.
  • Heart conditions: ask us first.
  • Alcohol or drugs: anyone under the influence takes no part at all, as driver or passenger.
  • Children under 6: cannot be booked; passengers ride from 6, drivers from 16.

Why the ride is physical

A buggy safari is not a gentle drive on a smooth road. Over 18 km you cover forest tracks, dirt roads and rough terrain, ford small streams, pause at water splashes, and mud when conditions allow. Throughout, the buggy bumps, rocks and shakes, and you feel each jolt through the seat.

For most guests this is exactly what makes it exciting. For someone with a sore back, a stiff neck or a body still recovering from an operation, the same jolts can be uncomfortable or worse. That is why we ask certain guests to talk to us before they reserve, rather than discovering on the day that the ride is not right for them.

Pregnancy

The safari is not suitable during pregnancy, whether you would drive or ride as a passenger. This is not something we can make an exception for, and we would rather say so clearly here than leave any doubt.

If you are travelling with a group and one of you is pregnant, the others can of course still book. There is no requirement for everyone in a party to take part.

Back and neck problems

Because the vehicle shakes on rough ground, back and neck problems are the most common reason guests get in touch before booking. Please message us first and describe the situation in a sentence or two.

The operator's own guidance is that the passenger seat may suit people with back or neck trouble better than driving. A passenger does not have to brace against the wheel or react to the terrain in the same way, though the ride is still bumpy. A passenger pays €15, half the €30 driver fare.

Recent surgery and heart conditions

If you have had an operation recently, or you have a heart condition, ask us before you book. These are situations where a general rule does not fit everyone, and the sensible first step is a conversation with a medical professional who knows your case.

Once you have that advice, send us your question. We will tell you plainly what the day involves, so that you and your doctor can judge it properly. We do not give medical advice ourselves and never will.

Alcohol and drugs: a firm no

Anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs takes no part at all. This applies to passengers just as much as drivers; there is no option to sit in the passenger seat after a few drinks. Please plan the evening before with this in mind, especially for a morning departure.

On the day itself there is a second filter as well: the compulsory practice drive, after which the guide alone decides who steers.

What the day asks of your body

Beyond the ride itself, think about the whole programme. It lasts approximately 4–4.5 hours door to door, which takes in the shuttle both ways, signing in, two briefings, an introduction to the buggy and the practice run. You climb in and out of the buggy, walk around the base and spend the route seated while the vehicle shakes.

If a parent is unsure whether a child aged 6 or over with a health question should ride as a passenger, the same advice applies: speak to a medical professional first, then message us.

How to ask us, and when

The easiest route is WhatsApp at +90 536 603 75 84. Mention your preferred day, whether you plan to steer or sit beside a driver, and a short description of the condition. A short message is enough; there is no form to fill in.

Asking first costs nothing. Booking asks for no card details and takes no money up front; the fare is due on the tour day, and a cancellation made 48 hours or more before the start costs nothing, so you can wait for an answer without losing your options. For any other need not covered on this page, the same applies: ask before booking.
